Do not take Lipitor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment. Tell it right away if you become pregnant during treatment. This means that Lipitor can cause birth defects if it is taken during pregnancy. Lipitor can pass into breast milk. It can harm a nursing baby. Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.
Lipitor can make birth control pills less effective. Ask your doctor about using a non-hormone method of birth control (such as a condom, diaphragm, spermicide) to prevent pregnancy while taking Lipitor.
